Published

Manchester United returned to winning ways by defeating Brentford 3-1 at the Brentford Community Stadium on Wednesday night.

Ralf Ragnick’s men had suffered a setback in their race for a Champions League spot by managing just a point from a possible six after their home defeat to Wolves and a bitter 2-2 draw at Aston Villa.

United were woeful in the first half and were lucky not to be behind, thanks to David De Gea’s brilliant saves that kept the game 0-0.

Ragnick’s men rediscovered their form after the break and got the breakthrough when 19-year-old Anthony Elanga netted the opener (55′) to begin the turnaround.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s magnificent touch found countryman, Bruno Fernandes, who teed up Mason Greenwood for United’s second in the 62nd-minute.

Substitute, Marcus Rashford, found the back of the net (77′) to hand the Red Devils a comfortable 3-0 lead before Ivan Toney netted a consolation goal for the hosts with five minutes to the end of the match.

However, it was Steven Bergwijn who turned the game around with two goals in two minutes to the end of added time (90+5′, 90+7′), swinging the victory in favour of the hosts.
