Nigeria women's basketball team, D'Tigress, have been crowned African champions after beating Mali in the final of the 2021 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket.

The Nigerian basketball queens ousted their opponents by 11 points to end the game 70 - 59.

D'Tigress have now won the continental championship for a third consecutive time after a double victory over Senegal in the 2017 and 2019 finals.

Nigeria have also won the Afrobasket crown five times, in 2003 and 2005, since the inception of the competition.

Meanwhile, Otis Hughley's women already booked a ticket to the 2022 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Sydney, Australia after a hard-fought 73-63 victory of Senegal on Friday night.
