Denmark: Eriksen scores on return to international football

Denmark midfielder, Christian Eriksen, marked his return to international football with a goal in the friendly match against the Netherlands.

The former Inter Milan star returned to football as a substitute on February 26, eight months after he suffered a cardiac arrest on June 12 at Euro 2020, when Newcastle defeated Brentford 2-0.

Eriksen was handed his first full start by The Bees on March 5, registering one assist, as Brentford beat Norwich 3-1.

The Dane has now returned to the national side today, coming in as a substitute in the second half as Denmark trail 3-1 against the Dutch side.

Steven Bergwijn, Nathan Aké and Memphis Depay (P) scored as the hosts took a two-goal cushion into the break as Jannik Vestergaard's early equaliser.

But two minutes after his introduction into the game in the second half, Eriksen announced his arrival with a goal to make it 3-2.

However, Denmark soon found themselves trailing Holland as Bergwijn restored the two-goal advantage to make it 4-2.

The hosts went on to seal a 4-2 win over Denmark.
