Commonwealth Games: Lawal wins Nigeria’s second gold medal
Weightlifter, Rafiatu Folashade Lawal, has won Nigeria’s second gold medal at the ongoing Commonwealth Games by coming first in the women’s 59kg Weightlifting category.
Folashade broke three games records to lift a combined total of 206kg.
Nigeria now has three medals in total in the competition, all from weightlifters; two golds and a bronze.
Punch Metro reported that Olarinoye Adenike Adijat won the country’s first gold medal by lifting a tournament record of 203kg in the Women’s 55kg category.
Edidiong Joseph Umoafia doubled the medal by clinching a bronze medal in the men’s 67kg.
