Chelsea have booked a ticked in the semifinals of the Carabao Cup after defeating Brentford 2-0 on Wednesday night.

The Blues who were without the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner met the resistance of the home side.

It took Thomas Tuchel’s side an 80th-minute own goal by Swedish centre back, Pontus Jansson, to break the deadlock.

Chelsea then capitalised five minutes later when regular penalty taker, Jorginho, fired in the second goal from the spot-kick to end the game 2-0.

Meanwhile, Tottenham booked a date with The Blues in the semifinal by defeating West Ham 2-1 in the other quarterfinal match.

Steven Bergwijn opened the score in the 29th minute before Jarrod Bowen restored parity for David Moyes’ side three minutes later.

However, Lucas Moura was the hero for Antonio Conte’s Spurs side when he netted the eventual winner two minutes after.

Conte will prepare for a return to Stamford Bridge against his former side Chelsea when they meet in the week commencing January 3 for the first leg.

The Italian told Sky: “It’s good for Tottenham to reach the semi-final of this competition. You can see the name of the teams that reach this semi, it means every club wants to try to lift this trophy. I remember in the past, this trophy was used to play with young players, but now I’m seeing to win a trophy in England is very difficult. West Ham have beaten United and City. In England it is very difficult to win something!”
