Barcelona unveil French defender Jules Kounde

Barcelona have officially presented Jules Kounde as their latest star signing after completing his move from Sevilla.

The French defender arrived at the club last Thursday but curiously has been training on his own since, as he awaited the squad’s return from their preseason tour in the United States of America.

Kounde arrived at the Ciutat Esportiva on Monday morning to be met by President Joan Laporta and Sporting Director Mateu Alemany at the club’s offices.

Following that, the public signing of the contracts was carried out and Kounde was inducted as a member of the club.

Laporta then welcomed and thanked him for waiting for Barcelona, as well as praising Alemany and the technical team behind the signing.

Kounde in his speech equally thanked Laporta and the fans for their affection while also expressing his readiness to be a part of the club's culture.

The 23 year old revealed that his conversations with the Barça boss were another crucial factor in his decision to sign for Barça.

"Talking to Xavi was easy and I could feel his warmth and his desire for me to sign. That was important for me," stressed Kounde.

"He asked me to continue what I have been doing at Sevilla, be aggressive and bring the ball out from the back, which are my strong points," he added.

After three seasons with the Andalusians, Kounde believes he is well placed to settle in quickly at the Club: "I think my knowledge of La Liga will make things easier but the most important thing is to adapt to the Barça style and what the coach wants."
