UCL: Juve top group as Zenith hold Chelsea in six-goal cracker

Published

Italian giant, Juventus finished top of Group H after defeating Malmo as defending champions Chelsea were held 3-3 by Zenith in a six-goal thriller in their Champions League encounter on Wednesday night.

Juventus entered the final group game second on the log behind The Blues after suffering a 4-0 thrashing at Stamford Bridge a fortnight ago, needing a win to top the group provided Chelsea lose to or draw Zenith.

Moise Kean gave the Turin side the all-important win against Malmo after scoring the winner in the 18th minute.

Meanwhile, Chelsea were held by a determined Zenith side in Russia after a stoppage-time equaliser by Magomed Ozdoyev (90+4′).

The Blues had taken the lead after just two minutes through Time Werner but Claudinho equalised in the 38th minute before Sardar Azmoun’s 41st-minute goal turned the game around.

Romelu Lukaku scored his first goal(62′) since returning from injury on November 23 before Werner gave Thomas Tuchel’s side the lead five minutes to the end of the game.

Chelsea thought they were home dry until the 94th minute when Ozdoyev stole the show to level matters ensuring both sides share the spoils.

Juve ended the group with 15 points, three ahead of Chelsea while Zenith dropped to the UEFA Europa League after finishing third with five points.
