Spain thrash Germany 6-0 as F.Torres bags historic hattrick

Spain’s ruthless display left the German machines dismantled in a 6-0 mauling during Tuesday night’s UEFA Nations League match.

Manchester City star, Ferran Torres made history by scoring his first career hattrick to become became the youngest player to score a hattrick in an official match for Spain since 14 April 1929, when Gaspar Rubio (20-121) scored a hat-trick in their 8-1 friendly home victory over France.

At 20yrs and 262days old, he also became the youngest player to score a brace for Spain since Sergio Ramos against San Marino in October 2005 (19y 196d).

After a not-so-impressive start to the game, the Spanish side began the rout in the 17th minute when Juventus’s Alvaro Morata found the back of the net with a header after being teed up by substitute Fabian Ruiz of Napoli.

Torres made it two in the 33rd minute and the home team were unstoppable from then on as they went on to add four more.

Fellow City star Rodri made it 3-0 with another header five minutes later, thanks to an assist from Atletico Madrid’s Koke.

Although Luis Enrique’s men lost captain Sergio Ramos due to an injury, the remained undeterred in their aim to destroy the Germans who for the first time since the 1958 World Cup conceded three first half goals. They were 3-1 down in the 3rd place play-off against France after 45 minutes (6-3 loss), according to @GracenoteLive.

Torres grabbed his second of the night in the 55th minute with an assist provided by his former Valencia teammate Jose Luis Gaya.

Torres got hist hattrick in the 71st minute after picking up another assist from Ruiz to make it 5-0 at the Estadio Olimpico de Sevilla.

Mikel Oyarzabal put Spain in wonderland with his 89th-minute goal as Gaya completed his second assist of the match.
