Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, has strongly rebuked the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, following the latter’s remarks suggesting that Sowore was “lucky” to have President Bola Tinubu as a tolerant leader despite his outspoken criticisms.

Recall that Wike, during the flag-off of the Arterial Road N1 construction in Wuye, Abuja, on Thursday, condemned Sowore for calling President Tinubu a “criminal.” Wike added that Sowore should consider himself fortunate to have a president who respects the rule of law, despite his criticisms.

In response to Wike’s comments, Sowore took to his verified X account to accuse the FCT minister of serious misconduct, including allegations of corruption, land grabbing, and violence during his tenure. Sowore did not mince words, calling Wike a “drunkard–murderer–landgrabber–thief” and claimed that Wike had suggested that President Tinubu should have gone as far as assassinating him over his criticism of the president.

“I heard that the FCT’s drunkard–murderer–landgrabber–thief minister, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, said Bola Ahmed Tinubu should have assassinated me for calling him #TinubuIsACriminal,” Sowore wrote in his post.

Sowore, the former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), further lashed out at Wike’s credibility, asserting that he had no moral standing to criticize others. “Wike is a dedicated criminal. His day will come. His threatening me with assassination on behalf of Tinubu is nothing new,” Sowore stated.

The activist continued, accusing Nigerians of complacency in allowing corrupt individuals like Wike to hold leadership roles in the country. “If Nigerians weren’t so docile, complacent, and cowardly, criminals, thieves, and murderers like Wike would never have any leadership roles in this country,” he added.

Sowore also alleged that Wike had engaged in land theft in Abuja, had robbed the people of Rivers State, and was responsible for the massacre of Igbos in Obigbo. He concluded with a sharp critique, stating, “Wike should be in The Hague at the International Criminal Court.”
