The All Progressives Congress in the South-South zone has thrown its full support behind President Bola Tinubu for a second term in 2027.
At a stakeholders’ meeting held in Benin City, Edo State, on Saturday, party leaders also endorsed the region’s four APC governors as the sole candidates for governorship elections in their respective states.
Those governors include Bassey Edet of Cross River, who also serves as the APC South-South Coordinator, and Monday Okpebholo of Edo. Also on the list are Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta and Umo Bassey Eno of Akwa Ibom, who both recently joined the APC from the PDP.
The decisions were made public in a communiqué read by Chief Victor Giadom, the party’s National Vice Chairman for the South-South zone. The motion was moved by House of Reps Majority Leader, Professor Julius Ihonvbere, and seconded by Senator Adams Oshiomhole.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio presided over the session.
