U.K based gospel artiste, Sophia Godwin, popularly known as “Sophy-Yah,” says her new single, “Stop the Hurt”, due for launch next Monday, focuses on the fight against domestic violence.

The multiple award winner, actress and television presenter, in a recent interview said that domestic violence or any form of abuse, be it physical, psychological or emotional, could be really damaging.

According to her, the single will be released in support of Women’s Aid UK, a UK based charity that looks after abused women.

“My new single, “Stop the Hurt,” is a song that talks extensively about domestic violence and its effects.

“Domestic violence is not right in any shape, be it on a woman or a man, it is violence; what we need is a mental revolution.

“Also, the song is being released in support of Women’s Aid, a UK based charity that looks after abused women, proceeds from the sales of the single will be donated to them as they are doing a fantastic job.

“The track, when released, will be on my website www.sophyyahmusic.com.

“Am hoping and trusting that the song will impact many that will listen to it and remedy this ill in the society,” she said.

Sophy-Yah said she became a born-again Christian at age 13 and immediately became passionate about the things of God.

Sophy-Yah is at present the Music Ambassador for London-based International Women of Power (IWOP), a youth influencer for “The Truth about Drug”.

She is also Brand Influencer for U.S brands like Hairfinity, Poppy Apparel and Shero Science; Mumzz Backpack in Singapore; Femme Luxe, Pro teeth whitening company in the U.K and Hong Kong’s Organic Asap, among others.

The gospel songstress had featured at Christian concerts, seminars, award ceremonies, both in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

Most noticeably, she was a member of the choir that recorded the BBC theme song titled, “first step” at the legendary Abbey Road Studio, U.K, for the 2012 Olympics.

She had also shared platforms with great gospel musicians like Chevelle Franklin, Noel Robinson, Bob Fit, Original King Arthur, Nicole C. Mullen, Damita Haddon, Sonnie Badu, Kym Mazelle, Lurine Cato, Tim Godfrey, among other UK, African and American gospel artistes.
