A man has died after his son allegedly attacked him with an axe for mistakenly stepping on his iPhone.
23-year-old Leng Huon had reportedly engaged in an all night of drinking and playing loud music with friends at the family home.
Huon dropped his iPhone on the ground just outside the house in Prey Veng Province in Southern Cambodia. His father, Leng Sao, 50, came out of his bedroom because he could not sleep and then stepped on the phone.
According to local police Captain, Chuon Samnan, Huon shouted at his father, who in turn kicked his son in the back during the argument over the phone.
Samnang said:
“He then took the axe and hacked his father on the head, neck and chest, instantly killing him.”
Images show deep, bleeding cuts in Sao’s neck and chest reportedly caused by the axe.
Houn reportedly fled the scene but was later arrested and cops are said to have taken an axe from him.
The authorities confirmed Houn had been accused of premeditated murder and he faces up to 15 years in prison if he is found guilty.
The investigation is ongoing. The model of the iPhone has not been reported.
