An unidentified soldier allegedly stabbed a bouncer to death on Monday night at a nightclub in Bonny Island, Rivers State.
The victim, identified as Kingsley Abbey, was on duty at the club’s entrance when the unfortunate incident occurred.
According to reports, trouble started when Bouncer Abbey conducted a routine search on the soldier and discovered a dagger in his possession.
Consequently, the bouncer denied the soldier entry, leading to a heated argument between the two.
The grieving wife of the deceased, Diepreye Abbey, narrated the harrowing experience of searching for her husband in various hospitals.
She explained, “We were checking all the hospitals to find out where they kept him, but we didn’t see him. At last, there is a place called Macurly; that is where I found him. When I got there, my husband was already dead.”
Diepreye expressed her anguish, stating, “I need justice for my husband. I have four children. Who will train them? I’m not working for now. I need justice.”
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Superintendent Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that the investigation had commenced to ascertain the details of the unfortunate event and identify the suspect.
Iringe-Koko said, “Yes, I can confirm the incident from what the Divisional Police Officer told me. But the identity of the person who stabbed him is unknown. The investigation is ongoing to verify the identity of the person who committed the crime. Once we can get the identity of the person, we will take it up from there and ensure that the necessary procedure is followed.”
