Sokoto lawmaker’s son Uzaifa dies two weeks after his evacuation from Ukraine
Uzaifa Halilu Modachi, son of a Sokoto lawmaker, has died two weeks after returning to Sokoto State, Nigeria from war-torn Ukraine.
The deceased was the son of Honourable Habibu Haliru Modachi, a serving member of the Sokoto State House of Assembly.
The late Uzaifa was a final year student of Zaporizhzhia State Medical University, Ukraine and was preparing for his final year examination which will qualify him to be a medical doctor when Russian troops invaded the country.
Russia sent her troops into Ukraine on February 24, 2022, in an alleged effort to degrade the military capability of its Southern neighbour and root out those it called dangerous nationalists.
According to Modachi, his son was in Ukraine for three years without returning home for vacation.
