A significant number of All Progressives Congress members in Gada Local Government Area of Sokoto State have reportedly defected to the African Democratic Congress, marking a major shift in the region’s political landscape.

The defectors were formally welcomed on Sunday by Senator Abubakar Gada, a key figure within the ADC coalition.

The former senator described the mass defection as evidence of declining public confidence in the APC-led administration.

Speaking during the event, Senator Gada expressed concern over the deteriorating security situation and economic hardship plaguing Sokoto East and other parts of the country.

He emphasized the adverse impact on agriculture, the primary economic activity in the area.

“Our people are battling serious security threats that have destroyed farming, our main source of income.

This has caused poverty, unemployment, and hunger in our communities,” he stated.

The former lawmaker noted that the increasing wave of defections to the ADC signals a broader desire for political change among Nigerians.

“Many Nigerians are coming to ADC because they believe in our mission to rescue the country.

The APC government’s poor performance has forced people to look for hope elsewhere, and ADC is providing that option,” Gada added.

He further highlighted the ADC’s commitment to offering a viable alternative, capable of tackling insecurity, reviving the economy, and restoring hope across the nation.
