Social media comedian, Sydney Talker, sparks Twitter uproar with new skit [Video]
Popular Nigerian social media comedian, Sydney Egere popularly known as Sydney Talker, is presently in the eye of the storm as some social media users are lambasting him over his new comedy skit which some claimed promotes sexual harassment.
The skit which also featured another popular social media comedian, Dr Craze @crazeclown, was posted on Twitter on Monday.
Recall that a few weeks ago, ex-Big Brother Naija housemate, Ekemini Ekerete, otherwise known as Kemen, court controversy with his appearance in a comedy skit which a section of social media believes supports sexual harassment.
In Sydney’s 49 seconds skit titled ‘Mission Impossible’, a lady was seen walking past three guys sitting by the roadside, one of the guys placed a bet with his friends that he was going to hit the lady’s backside. To the surprise of his friends who believed it was an impossible mission, he stood up, went after the lady and did just as he had said.
The skit didn’t take long before it sparked uproar on Twitter as users claimed it glorifies sexual harassment.

Other Twitter users, however, defended the skit, saying it was a satirical expression and does not in any way promote harassment.
A Twitter user, Chidi Okereke wrote:
Sad to see Sydney Talker sink into that hole most entertainers eventually put themselves in. That hole where they deliberately create plainly controversial content, just to be in the news. Sad that this time he’s focusing on joking with something as prevalent as sexual harassment.
I’ve seen a few people defend the silly skit as satire. I’m disappointed. Nevertheless, for the records; SATIRE ceases to be satire if it does not overtly or covertly criticize/condemn that vice that is being satirized. Calling out stupidity is the goal of satire. Full stop.
So, dear comedians/entertainers/content creators; if you want to highlight the prevalence of sexual harassment, let it be clear what side you’re on. I can help you with content when you’re ready. Don’t be stupid for likes and RTs. Selah.
Another Twitter user wrote:
That’s why most media come with age restrictions. At that age, you’re expected to know that not all things that happen in that content is acceptable in real life. The age limit for IG is 13.
A 13 year old should be smart enough not to go around imitating every comedy skit.

Imagine having to explain why that skit was very terrible and should be criticised.
The skit was literally saying
1. if you have a gun, you can harass women.
2. if you are a doctor, you can harass women. How does anyone find such a message something to laugh about? Shameful.

Funny how the same people that glorify bbnaija show that promotes sexual harassment and naija musicians that promotes women as sex objects in their music videos are dragging Sydney talker skit as per say he no be olamide, wizkid or davido?

Sydney Talker promotes sexual contents but you have seen Power, Money Heist among other American series.
You’ll probably get home tonight to continue the series, but you’re bashing a clear skit that is indirectly exposing the sexual harassment in the Medical and Security sector— Duke of Ibadan ?️ (@AsiwajuLerry) November 4, 2019
You hate Sydney Talker’s skit because you think it promotes sexual harassment but you love watching Power that promote drug life..
Hypo….. what???

How come we are more woke on twitter? Funny thing is Sydney Talker would post that video on Instagram and you won’t see anyone complain but twitter is a different case

The skit Sydney Talker dropped today on IG is different from the one on Twitter ‘cos I don’t understand how everyone is laughing on IG and he’s being dragged on Twitter. Maybe my eye dey pain me shaa.

I Love Sydney talker and I think he is actually very funny but constantly making the same type of Skits moreso Sexual, makes it seem like he is out of content.
It really reeks of clout chasing!

It’ll be hypocritical of me to say that that Sydney Talker’s skit promotes sexual harassment, same way it’ll be absurd to say a movie like ‘king of boys’ promotes organised Crime.
Sometimes, it’s best to treat things as the items of entertainment that they are.
