Nigerian skitmaker and actor Akinyoola Ayoola, better known as Kamo State, has won the hearts of many after cancelling his birthday party due to the rising insecurity in the country.

The actor, who turns a new age on June 14, had earlier announced plans to throw a party for his fans. However, following the crisis in the country, Kamo announced in an Instagram video that he was cancelling the celebration.

He said the decision was due to the insecurity and kidnapping of Oyo children and teachers, noting that it would be insensitive of him and his team to organise a party when families are grieving their loved ones.

“I said I wanted to celebrate my birthday with a few of my fans and posted it on all social platforms. Since the post, I’ve had 60,000 comments. I am so grateful, y’all are Kamonation. I am here to tell you all that I have postponed my birthday for this year. I am not celebrating it anymore because we can’t have a party at this time,” he said.

“It would be insensitive of me and my team to plan anything at this time. The insecurity, the abducted children and teachers, and all we can do is to lend our voices. Safety first.”

“My birthday party is cancelled out of respect for the current situation in the country. Little children and teachers who were abducted haven’t returned home, so there’s nothing to celebrate,” he added.

His decision was met with praise from his fans.
