Nigerian singer Skales has denied reports that he divorced his wife, Precious Hassanity, because she mocked his music career on social media.

The claim came from a post on X by a user named Verity_HQ. The user claimed Skales said, “I divorced my wife because of a comment she made on my post and I don’t regret it.” The post said Skales was angry because his wife joined others in mocking his music, which he said pays their bills.

The post added that Skales felt his wife should have supported him or stayed quiet. It also said he believed a woman who does not support her husband’s work is not a good wife.

Skales quickly responded to the report, calling it “false.” He said the story was “evil and unfair” and asked the blogger to stop spreading lies.

He wrote: “This is really evil of you that you would cook up such a story. This is not fair. I have never made such a statement and this is false. Please stop spreading lies.”

Skales married Precious Hassanity, a chef, in September 2021. In November 2022, he shared parts of an unreleased song that sounded like a diss track aimed at his wife. The song included harsh words and accused her of not helping his late mother, Martina Aiyewa, who died weeks before.

After his mother’s death, Skales also hinted at problems in his marriage when he wrote on social media, “In all you do, make sure you don’t marry a heartless person. Pray for my mental health.”

But for now, Skales says he has not divorced his wife and rejects claims about social media fights causing a split.
