At least six people died and many others were injured in a terrible accident involving an 18-seater commercial bus on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Saturday morning.
The accident caused a serious traffic jam, leaving many travellers stuck on the road for hours while emergency workers tried to rescue the victims and clear the wreckage.
As of the time of this report, rescue operations were still ongoing. Emergency teams were seen working hard to remove those trapped inside the vehicle and help the injured.
The cause of the accident is not yet clear, but witnesses say the crash was very serious and the bus was badly damaged.
Officials from the Federal Road Safety Corps and other emergency agencies arrived at the scene to assist with rescue efforts and to control traffic.
The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway is one of the busiest roads in Nigeria and has witnessed many accidents over the years. Authorities are again being urged to improve road safety and ensure stricter monitoring of commercial drivers.
So far, the names of the victims have not been released, but families have been asked to check with nearby hospitals and the FRSC office for any information.
