Six people lost their lives, and five others were seriously injured in a tragic road accident in the Amuloko area of Ibadan, Oyo State.

The accident, which occurred early Monday morning, involved two trucks, a tricycle, and a commercial motorcycle (Okada) according to a Vanguard news report.

Eyewitnesses reported that some students on their way to school were among the victims. A mother who was taking her child to school also died in the accident, while her child survived with minor injuries.

One witness explained that the crash happened when a trailer’s brake system failed while descending a slope. “The trailer was coming down the slope when it lost control. Another truck behind it tried to avoid a collision but ended up crashing into a tricycle carrying students and other passengers,” the witness said.

Before help arrived, some of the passengers had already died. The injured, including two schoolchildren, were rushed to Amuloko City Hospital for treatment.

Dr. Raji Wale, Managing Director of Amuloko City Hospital, confirmed the arrival of six injured victims at the hospital. “Two of them have been treated and discharged, but two children are still receiving treatment. Sadly, one of the children lost their mother in the accident,” he stated.

The Federal Road Safety Commission also confirmed the accident, though details were still awaited from the team at the scene.
