The lifeless body of Blessing Williams, a single mother residing in the Ogbumbada compound in Rumalogu, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, was reportedly discovered in her apartment on Thursday.

A source, who chose to remain anonymous, revealed that Blessing Williams had been facing challenging times.

The source mentioned to PUNCH Metro that the deceased’s mother had been providing support to Blessing and her son during these difficult days.

The source shared details of the discovery, saying, “This morning, I was in my house when the son was passing by. So my mom called him and asked how his mom was. He said his mom is fine. He then asked the boy to go home, have his birth, and come back so that she would give him some money to get something for him and his mom. Not up to 20 minutes; he rushed back and said he had been calling his mom, and she was not answering.”

Concerns are mounting in Rivers State as this incident follows recent cases of violence against women in the area.

Earlier, the lifeless body of a female student from the University of Port Harcourt was discovered in her apartment in the Aluu community.

Another tragic incident involved the decomposing body of a female student, Justina Otuene, found in her ex-lover’s apartment in Ozuoba, both in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

Efforts to obtain official statements from the Rivers State Police Command have been unsuccessful as the spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, could not be reached through phone calls or text messages.
