Pop music star, Janet Jackson would mark the 40th anniversary of her 1982 debut album with a documentary that will premiere in early 2022.

The two-part documentary titled ‘Janet’ would be broadcast on Lifetime and A&E, according to a press release by the network on Wednesday.

The documentary, which was co-produced by the singer-songwriter herself, as well as her brother, Randy, would premiere on a two-night, four-hour documentary event.

The Rock-and-Roll Hall of Famer would grant unprecedented access to her personal life and professional career and an intimate, honest and unfiltered look at the untold story of one of the highest-earning artists in music history.

The ‘Scream’ singer also documented reactions to the deaths of her brother – the King of Pop – Michael Jackson and father Joseph Jackson – the pivotal figure in the Jackson dynasty, in 2009 and 2018 respectively.

“The documentary details Janet’s return to the world stage following a sudden break from music.

“Janet has enjoyed immense success but also seen incredible tragedy… She has endured a tumultuous private life in the face of extraordinary public scrutiny.

“With no stone left unturned, Janet lifts the lid on her private life for the very first time and reveals the most intimate moments of the star ever caught on camera,” the statement said.

According to Official Charts, the ‘Why Did I Get Married’ actress self-titled debut album was released in September 1982, but it was not until her third studio album, 1985’s Control, that Janet broke into the mainstream, with that album reaching Number 1 in the US and spawning five Top 5 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including the chart-topping ‘When I Think Of You.’

The pop singer was slated to release her 12th studio album, Black Diamond, in 2020, but the album and its namesake global tour were delayed due to the pandemic.
