Sia’s ex-husband seeks $250,000 monthly spousal support after split

The estranged husband of Australian singer Sia has requested more than $250,000 per month in spousal support, according to court documents filed in the US.

Daniel Bernard, a former doctor, said he needed the amount to maintain the “luxurious and upper-class lifestyle” he enjoyed during his marriage to the pop star, best known for hits like Chandelier and Titanium.

Sia, whose full name is Sia Furler, filed for divorce in March, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The couple married in December 2022 and share an 18-month-old son.

Bernard claimed he became “financially dependent on Sia” after quitting his medical job to help run a business venture with her, which did not last.

In the filings, he said their monthly expenses exceeded $400,000, including private jet trips, holidays, fine dining, and several full-time staff members.

“We never needed to monitor our living expenses,” he said, adding that temporary support was “necessary” since Sia had been the main earner in their marriage.

Bernard, who previously worked as a radiation oncologist, stated that he would need several years of retraining and exams before returning to medical practice. He also asked the court for additional payments to cover legal and accounting fees.
