Reports of Enyimba players and officials being held hostage after Sunday’s match against Shooting Stars have been dismissed by the management of the Oluyole Warriors.

According to Tosin Omojola, the media officer for Shooting Stars, assertions that Enyimba was prevented from leaving the stadium complex are unfounded.

Despite Enyimba securing a 2-1 victory at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, Omojola clarified that the measures taken were to ensure the safety of all involved.

In a press release, Omojola stated, “There is no iota of truth in the reports of Enyimba players and officials being held hostage.”

He explained that post-match agitations led the stadium management, Oyo State Football Association, and 3SC management to clear exit routes to avoid potential risks.

Addressing the celebration within the dressing room, Omojola questioned, “How on earth would you say players and officials of a team who were celebrating their victory inside the dressing room were held hostage?”

He emphasized the precautionary steps taken to ensure the safety of both match officials and the visiting team.

The media officer highlighted the supportive behavior of 3SC fans, stating, “Even when they were eventually filling out, our fans hailed them on their way to their bus, and even when their bus was leaving the arena, so how come claims that they were held hostage?”
