West Brom are set to announce the sack of head coach Slaven Bilic despite pulling a 1-1 draw against Manchester City at the Etihad on Tuesday night.

Bilic who has endured a poor run of form with just one win in 13 matches is set to be replaced by Sam Allardyce, having emerged as his potential replacement, according to local media.

According to TalkSport, the 52-year-old who succeeded Darren Moore on a two-year contract last summer and led the club to promotion in his first season in charge, has already had his fate sealed before the City game.

However, while survival specialist Allardyce is West Brom’s number one target, Nigel Pearson and Mark Hughes are also under consideration.

Bilic was asked about his future after the game and replied: “I’m very calm, I love my job, I enjoy it and I’m working hard for myself and my staff for the club.

“Everything else out of my control. I’m just doing my best.

“I’m not bothered what’s happening behind the scenes, I don’t care.”

However, should he be sacked, Bilic will become the first Premier League manager to get sacked in the 2021/20 season with the likes of Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta and Sheffield United’s Chris Wilder also on tipped to get sacked.

Allardyce who has been out of work since he left Everton in May 2018 has a history with the Baggies after he was hired as a player-coach by Brian Talbot in February 1989.

The pair were sacked in January 1991 after West Brom suffered a shock 4-2 FA Cup third round defeat to non-league Woking.

With Bilic on the brink, Baggies keeper Sam Johnstone produced a man-of-the-match display to earn a spirited point at the Etihad. – The Sun
