Vice-President Kashim Shettima is expected in Katsina State on Sunday to commission and flag off road projects executed by Governor Dikko Umar Radda’s administration. The Shettima Katsina projects are drawing significant attention in the region.

According to Vanguard, Shettima will also launch the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up. He will also launch its Community Investment Fund during the visit.

The programme is expected to provide direct financial support to 57,432 women in Daura and Funtua local government areas. In addition, the Shettima Katsina projects are focusing on infrastructure.

Road projects take centre stage

Shettima is expected to commission completed road projects and flag off others as part of the Shettima Katsina projects. Furthermore, it is part of the state government’s infrastructure programme.

The Radda administration said the projects are intended to improve connectivity and stimulate economic activities across the state.

The visit will also highlight other infrastructure and human-capital initiatives being implemented by the state government. Furthermore, the Shettima Katsina projects are set to positively impact both urban and rural communities.

57,432 women to benefit

The Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up is supported by the World Bank and implemented in collaboration with the Katsina State Government.

The programme seeks to expand economic opportunities for women, strengthen livelihoods and promote inclusive economic development.

Its Community Investment Fund will provide financial support targeted at women in the two participating local government areas.

Shettima’s visit is expected to combine the infrastructure commissioning with the formal rollout of the women-focused programme.
