[ICYMI] Shehu Sani demands stronger evidence against NASCO owner, other indicted Boko Haram sponsors
A former senator representing Kaduna Central representative council, Shehu Sani, has demanded additional facts to back up allegations that the late founder of NASCO Group, Ahmed Idris Nasreddin and a handful of other notable northerners are financing terrorism in the country.
Nasreddin whose NASCO Group manufacture the popular Nasco corn flakes passed away in March 2021 at the age of 96.
Six months after his demise, an investigative report by popular freelance investigative journalist, David Hundeyin, which was published on over the weekend pinpointed the late NASCO boss as one of the many prominent northerners allegedly sponsoring terrorism in the country.
Although the Federal Government is yet to respond to the publication, Sani has declared on Facebook that the journalist’s claim would be irrelevant if he fails to produce more convincing evidence to buttress his allegation.
This is just as Sani cautioned that Hundeyin’s action would be tantamount to image smearing campaign against those who support the country if there are no further facts to back up his claim.
“It’s doubtful that a reputable company like NASCO, that has contributed immensely to the industrial and economic development of the North and Nigeria as a whole, provided employment opportunities for thousands, assisted families and for decades, remain steadfast in the face of all our political, security and economic challenges, can now be accused of funding terrorism.
“More facts are needed otherwise let’s not destroy those who believe and still stand with us while others have left for long”.
