A former lawmaker, Shehu Sani, has confirmed and condemned the attack on Haske Baptist Church in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Sunday.

Sani, who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly between 2011 and 2015, in a statement on his Twitter account said that two worshippers were killed while six others were abducted by gunmen who stormed the church on Sunday morning.

The President of the Civil Rights Congress of Nigeria (CRCN) and the Chairman of Hand-in-Hand, Africa added that no fewer than 70 people were kidnapped from the axis in the last seven days.

“The attacks and abduction on Haske Baptist Church in Chikun LG, Kaduna State early this morning is tragic and condemnable. I called and confirmed that two were killed and Six were kidnapped. Over 70 people are in the hands of kidnappers within that axis in the last one week,” he wrote on Twitter.

The attack on the church comes on the heels of the last week’s abduction of no fewer than 23 students of the Greenfield University, a privately-owned tertiary institution in Kaduna State. Corpses of three of the students were discovered on Friday at Kwanar Bature village, a location close to the university.
