Sheffield United have completed the signing of Rhian Brewster from Premier League Champions Liverpool in a deal worth up to £23.5m.

Liverpool will retain a 15 per cent sell-on clause for the 20-year-old and a buy-back clause that is valid for the next three years.

Brewster had a medical in Yorkshire on Friday and finalised terms ahead of signing for Chris Wilder’s side.

“It feels good [becoming Sheffield United’s record signing],” the 20-year-old told Sky Sports News. “Of course it comes with big pressure but it’s just about trying to help the team, scoring goals and trying to get some results.

“Playing for Liverpool came with a lot of pressure but now my focus is on Sheffield United, and I want to help the team as much as possible by fighting and hopefully scoring.

“Quite a few teams came in for me and you cannot pick one straight away, I had to think about it and take my time. It’s my future, my career, and I only made my decision two days ago.

“It was a hard decision, but I personally think this is the best decision, coming to Sheffield united and trying to push on with my career. This is the best option for me right now.

“It’s hard leaving any team, but especially an amazing team like Liverpool that are on the way up. But I need game-time and it’s time for me to push on, and I can do that at Sheffield United.”
