SHE WAS BATTLING DEPRESSION! Young Nigerian OAP commits suicide
A young Nigerian on-air personality identified as Oluwapelumi Orungbe, has committed suicide in Magodo, Lagos.
The sad news was announced by @N6OFLIFE, a popular on-air personality with Cool FM Lagos on his Twitter page.
According to @N6OFLIFE, Pelumi recently completed her National Youth Service and was an intern on his show.

He said the deceased was battling depression.
N6OFLIFE wrote in a tweet,
“Just Received News that my Intern Committed Suicide. Sharp, Pretty Young Girl tho a bit Reserved, Just did NYSC with her whole Life ahead of Her.
“I’m Numb & My Hands are Shaking. Depression is Real. Pls speak to Someone & Seek Help. RIP Pelumi. Heaven has no more Pain.
“I even had a longgg chat with her on Saturday, gave her Tips & Pointers to being a Broadcaster & gave her an Assignment she is to submit this Saturday.
“She was so Excited & Full of Life. Not an Inkling of a Clue to her Mental State. I’ve never felt this Helpless before.”
However many Twitter users assumed that the deceased is a popular OAP Pelumi S and N6 was quick to correct the mistake. He wrote,
“To my Fellow Radio Family, I did not mean our Popular Pelumi S. This was a new Lady attached solely to my Saturday Show.
“Sorry if I might have caused a slight Panic. Cheers!”
Meanwhile, many sympathisers have written a touching tribute to the young OAP and encouraged people to seek help if they are constantly depressed.

You will never know cos they conceal it. My neighbor took his wife and kids out, judging from the wife IG story, they had a good time. Got back home and shot himself in the head while the wife and kids were asleep.

I and Pelumi served together in Ogun state. Always fun, smiled a lot. Jovial, loved to take pictures. I’m shook. This thing is real.

She was a senior colleague in the same department in unilag. She brought liveliness and radiance into any room she walks into.. Never expected anything like that from her. Depression is truly real

I am gobsmacked, fam! She was “perfectly alright”! I don’t know what to say. She was laughing and smiling like nothing on earth was wrong. I am so confused right now and i only saw her once, so i can’t begin to imagine how u must feel.

Jeez so sad, oh wow how could she…. There’s always someone who is aware of their situation but never did anything. Nobody cares till you are dead!

I was once depressed and as I kept talking about the situation a friend asked me the greatest question: Are you depressed?

Depression is real. People should be nicer and ask others how they are truly doing. Spend at least 3 minutes to chat and smile with someone. You never know who you might be saving. Let us stop being proud and care about others.
