Shame will always be the portion of people who bury the truth – Sega

Segun Awosanya SEGA

Popular rights activist, Segun Awosanya popular as Sega has lambasted some Nigerians who supported the action of the Presidency suspending the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen over alleged false assets declaration.

The CJN, who was suspended by President Muhammadu Buhari in January, is presently standing trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

Sega’s reaction was prompted by a tweet from one of his followers @Omotundesalawu who tagged him in a news report on the trial of the suspended CJN.

The Twitter user wrote:

“The FG has offered to close the case against #Onnoghen after they called in 3 witnesses of 6. Now those that defended @MBuhari actions and those that stood on the barbed wired fence should be ashamed.”

In his reaction, Sega posted series of tweets to lambaste those who had supported and justified the suspension of the CJN, saying those who spend their being seeking to rubbish others will always end up rubbishing themselves.

He wrote:

“Shame will always be the portion of people who bury the truth just to appease oppressors. You don’t need to like or agree with a fellow human being to do right by them. But No. They must add their voice to those of the mob in a show of loyalty. #ShameOnYouAll

“Sometimes when we think of the atrocities of the perversions within the aberration and their heinous blackmail, crime against humanity and attempts to defame others, it would be easy to rain curses on them of wish death upon them all but we will only be guilty of their crimes.

“We MUST never use possibility to justify certainty but base our decisions on the action itself. Is it fundamentally good or bad? But mostly we have people seeking whom to coerce into justifying their own decisions. They’re decided already & hope to have co-conspirators.

“What if you are granted the ability to time travel, will you kill baby Hitler?

“If you have answered Yes above, you will be deemed the scum of the earth conspiring to kill an innocent child. No child was born evil. They grow into this with help from society. Why kill a child?! If you say No…it is also sensitive. You had an opportunity to save millions and you botched it with your sanctimonious piety. Now you have the blood of an entire generations on your hands as well. Society will make you live with this guilt as though you actually committed murder yourself.

“So this leads to the question, what then is Ethical?

“Without allowing the primitive attitude of the transmogrified gnostic council of the BMC taint our judgement, let’s reason from the school of thought of Utilitarianism.

“Utilitarianism is an ethical and philosophical theory that states that the best action is the one that maximizes utility, which is usually defined as that which produces the greatest well-being of the greatest number of people, and in some cases, sentient animals.

“In English, it simply means a situation where Everybody gets on the same page morally (common ground). Society will always be an ecosystem where the many are vegetarians the few are cannibals. This is called Ethical relativism.

“We can’t always have a role model due to complex diversity. So it is best advised to be your own moral compass with the focus on the fact that the needs of the many MUST outweigh the wants of the few. So we all owe it to the many to stand by what is True & Just in Equity.

“Many people will disappoint you in the coming years. Channel that energy to knowing yourself and being your own moral compass. Expand your world view and stand for something regardless of who is watching or not. Be there for one another. Don’t wait for anyone…ACT.

“Those that spend their being seeking to rubbish others will always end up rubbishing themselves. There will always be enough shame to go round. But instead of learning from this, the Devil will trick them further into trying again to smear people they see as threat. #HateKills”
