The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, has distanced himself from allegations of corruption, reaffirming his commitment to transparency, accountability, and integrity.
This comes amid an ongoing investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission into Andrew Uchi, his Personal Assistant, over allegations of multi-billion naira corruption, bribery, and money laundering.
Reports indicate that Uchi has been in EFCC custody since Monday, March 10, 2025, following a petition that accused him of acquiring properties worth over N6 billion in Abuja, Jos, and several locations in Benue State, including Makurdi, Gboko, and Tarka.
Sources suggest that the total amount involved could be around N10 billion, though investigations are still ongoing.
Reacting to the development in a statement on Monday, Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Office of the SGF clarified that the leadership of the office has no involvement in the allegations.
“It is imperative to state categorically that the Office leadership is not in any way involved in the alleged misconduct as it has always maintained a strong commitment to transparency, accountability, and integrity.
“We recognize the efforts of the EFCC on this matter to ensure that those found culpable are held accountable. However, we urge the public not to speculate or draw conclusions as investigations are still ongoing,” the statement read.
The OSGF also expressed appreciation for the public’s understanding and support as the investigation continues.
