The Director-General of the National Sports Commission, Bukola Olopade, has dismissed claims that the Super Falcons are still owed their bonuses, saying all payments were made before the team’s last game against Morocco.

Speaking on Arise TV’s “Morning Show” on Friday, Olopade said, “I can confirm authoritatively that all their bonuses have been paid. I spoke with Ajibade yesterday, and with the NFF, and everybody is on the same page.”

He explained that a few players might not have received their payments yet due to bank delays with the Central Bank of Nigeria but stressed that all entitlements were settled. “On the promise of Mr. President, I can assure you that it will be paid,” he added, referring to the \$100,000 cash reward promised to the team for winning the 2024 WAFCON.

Olopade also revealed that the NSC is working with the Minister of Works and Housing to deliver houses to the players as pledged by the government. “The NSC is in contact with the Minister of Works and Housing and with the Renewed Hope Housing Initiative to ensure that they receive their houses in record time,” he said.

According to him, the commission remains committed to the welfare of athletes. “The NSC doesn’t play with the remuneration and welfare of athletes,” he stated.

His remarks followed recent comments from Super Falcons forward Rasheedat Ajibade, who told journalists, “We have not received our money, but hopefully, it would be paid. They have not paid, all the promises, we have not received anything.”

Ajibade had also said their match bonuses were still pending, noting, “Even our match bonuses and everything are all still work in progress.”
