Son of Nigeria’s President, Seyi Tinubu, on Friday visited Maiduguri, Borno State, to sympathize with the victims of a recent flood that devastated the state capital.

Accompanied by his brother, friends, and associates, Seyi made a generous donation of over ₦500 million to support those affected by the disaster.

During his visit, Seyi explained that this was just the beginning of their efforts to help the young people of Maiduguri who have been impacted by the flood. He promised that their support would continue until Borno State, particularly Maiduguri, fully recovers.

“We are here today, not just as representatives of our family but as members of a collective effort of young Nigerians to bring hope and relief to those who need it most. This is a moment for solidarity, compassion, and immediate action,” he said.

Seyi praised the resilience of the people of Borno, noting their ability to endure despite past challenges, including insecurity in the region. He expressed optimism that Borno would overcome this current crisis and emerge stronger.

“When my dad, President Bola Tinubu, visited Maiduguri earlier this week, he spoke about the urgent need for the private sector and individuals alike to step up in support of the communities affected. Inspired by his call, my wife Layal, and I, through the Noella Foundation, my brother Yinka, our friends, and numerous private sector partners have joined hands to respond swiftly to the needs of those displaced by this tragedy,” Seyi explained.

The donations included food items such as spaghetti, tomato paste, groundnut oil, rice, maize, and loaves of bread. Essential supplies like mosquito nets, blankets, mattresses, and hygiene kits were also provided. In addition, medical supplies were donated to treat around 50,000 people, including antimalarials, antibiotics, and other critical medications.

Seyi thanked Governor Babagana Zulum for his leadership and efforts in helping the flood victims, saying, “Your Excellency, in times of hardship, it is our shared responsibility to stand together. These medical supplies, survival kits, and food items we have brought today are our little gesture of solidarity and compassion. Together, we can rebuild and heal, for in unity, there is strength.”

Other individuals who accompanied Seyi also spoke highly of his commitment to helping Nigerians, especially the youth. Isaac Balami, a renowned aviator, described Seyi as a man full of empathy and love for his country, saying, “Seyi is a young man with empathy and love for his country who is committed to supporting young people.”

Seyi concluded his visit by reaffirming his commitment to stand with the people of Borno, echoing his father’s words: “Borno will rise again.”
