Nigerian musician Oxlade has opened up about a distressing ordeal involving the blackmail and leakage of his private videos on the internet, revealing the significant toll it took on his career and personal life.
In an interview with entertainment journalist Joey Akan, Oxlade candidly acknowledged the authenticity of the leaked videos, shedding light on the harrowing experience he endured for two years.
“I was being blackmailed with my sextapes which got leaked on the internet for two years,” Oxlade disclosed, highlighting the prolonged period of distress and anguish he endured.
The ordeal not only exacted a heavy financial toll on the musician but also had profound repercussions on his family dynamics. Oxlade revealed that his grandmother was deeply affected, constantly expressing fears that the situation would lead to her demise.
“It affected my family,” Oxlade expressed, revealing the emotional strain his loved ones endured as a result of the distressing situation.
Moreover, the gravity of the situation propelled Oxlade into a dark phase, compelling him to seek rehabilitation in the United Kingdom. The artist candidly admitted to grappling with the emotional and psychological aftermath of the blackmail saga.
Reflecting on the nature of the ordeal, Oxlade emphasized that the orchestrated campaign against him was evident from the multiple videos that surfaced online, indicating a deliberate agenda aimed at tarnishing his reputation and stalling his career trajectory.
“Nigerians should have known it’s an agenda against me as not just one video was released, but many,” Oxlade asserted.
The artist revealed that the ordeal served as a catalyst for personal growth, propelling him to achieve remarkable success, including producing one of the biggest songs in the country the previous year.
