No fewer than seven operatives were feared killed after unknown gunmen invaded some security checkpoints and police stations in Rivers State late Friday night.

The yet-to-be-identified hoodlums also attacked a police station along the Rumuji axis of the East-West Road in the State.

While Rumuji Police Station in Emuoha Local Government Area was torched, two policemen were feared killed and several vehicles burnt.

In a related development, The PUNCH reported that two other operatives were killed at a police checkpoint around Ogbakiri junction in the Emuoha LGA.

A checkpoint of the security outfit called C-4-i along the East-West Road was also attacked, leaving three officers dead in its trail.

Spokesman for the State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the attack but said he would make details available after visiting the areas attacked.

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, Eboka Friday, confirmed the report on Saturday morning.
