Ibese. a local community in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, was thrown into chaos on Tuesday following a violent clash, between Hausa and Yoruba commercial motorcyclists.
Nigerian Tribune reports that the dispute which started on Monday snowballed into a crisis that subsequently became bloody.
The motorcyclists, operating at Dangote Cement factory junction, were said to have started off with fighting over an increase in daily ticket fees from N600 to N800.
It was gathered that no fewer than seven persons were feared dead in the crisis which sources said degenerated into an ethnic clash.
When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, could not confirm the number of casualties involved in the crisis.
He, however, assured that the command is on top of the situation and urged residents to go about their normal businesses.
Oyeyemi, the Deputy Superintendent of Police said, “The issue is currently under control. It was a minor struggle that had snowballed into a serious crisis.”
