Seven people have been arrested by the Force Criminal Investigation Department in Alagbon, Lagos, over the killing of an engineer, Badmus Monsur, during a land dispute in Agidingbi.

Monsur, who worked with Nigercat Nigeria Group of Companies, was reportedly attacked and killed at a government-allocated site. The company’s chairman, Alhaji Akeem Osuolale, raised concerns about the safety of his staff and the pressure some officers were allegedly facing to release the suspects.

Speaking to journalists in Ikeja, Osuolale said, “I sincerely appreciate the efforts of the IGP and CSP Oyewale in ensuring that seven people connected to the murder of my engineer have been apprehended.”

He added that in the past, suspects had been released quickly even while his workers remained in detention. “There have been instances in the past where suspects were arrested and then released the same day, both at Alausa and FCID,” he said.

Osuolale also alleged that those behind the attack had continued to threaten him and his staff, boasting that they had powerful connections with security agencies. He claimed over 25 armed thugs were involved in the deadly attack.

He called on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to step in and ensure justice is done.

Police officials have not made further comments, saying the investigation is still ongoing.
