Seven people have been arrested in connection with the murder of BBNaija star, Khafi’s brother, Alexander Kareem.

Alexander Kareem was shot dead in London on the 8th of June 2020 and was buried last month.

Alexander suffered gunshot wounds to his chest and abdomen on Askew Road in Shepherd’s Bush, in an alleged case of mistaken identity.

According to a detective, a white Range Rover Evoque linked to the murder of the 20-year-old was found burnt out nearby in Ealing.

Five men, aged 18 to 24, a boy, 16, and a woman, 34, were arrested earlier today and are in custody.

Detective chief inspector Wayne Jolley, who is leading the investigation for the Met’s Specialist Crime Team, said the arrests were a “significant development.”

“I believe this murder to have been a case of mistaken identity, perpetrated recklessly and with no regard whatsoever for human life.

“We will continue to work hard to make sure those responsible are brought to justice.”

Alexander Kareem was buried on Wednesday, July 29, at the Margravine Cemetery in Hammersmith.

At the funeral, the family of Alexander Kareem, begged the public not to view his death as “just another black boy who’s been shot.”

In a heartfelt eulogy to her brother, Khafi Kareem, said she and her brothers “would have taken the bullet for him”.

Speaking after his funeral, Khafi said:

“To anybody who’s seen this (in the news) and is thinking this is just another black boy who’s been shot by violence, I want to tell you that is not the case.

“Alex’s life mattered, he had a future ahead of him, he’s not just another black boy. He had a family, he had friends, this is real.”

“There are real lives that have been impacted, real people who are broken. There are so many people who have turned up today and we are here for justice.

“I am begging whoever knows anything please find it in your heart to come forward. I feel bad that we’ve had to bury Alex and his killers are still not found, can he really rest in peace when his killers are roaming around?”
