Nigerian singer Seun Kuti has addressed his relationship with social commentator Vincent Otse, popularly known as VDM, following a recent controversy.

During an Instagram live session, Kuti clarified that while he and VDM are friends, he has no control over his actions, saying, Before I touch on Falana and VDM issue, let me clear the air on some things.

“I want to say that I don’t have control over what VDM does, yeah, we are cool and if you don’t know by looking at VDM on his page, boy no dey hear word, you can’t tell him nothing.”

The controversy arose after VDM released a video involving popular crossdresser Bobrisky, which allegedly contained leaked audio of Bobrisky talking to an unknown man.

Kuti admitted that while VDM mentioned having the tape, he never actually played it for him.

He said, “Let me tell you now, VDM never played the audio for me,he just said he has a tape where Bobrisky said this and that”

Kuti also touched on the allegations involving human rights lawyer Femi Falana, who was accused of seeking financial gain in exchange for helping Bobrisky secure a presidential pardon. Seun expressed regret if his comments offended Falana, clarifying that his intention was never to tarnish the lawyer’s image.

He emphasized, “I have respect for Uncle Femi. Any misunderstanding was not deliberate or meant to bring him shame.”

Seun concluded by stating that his primary concern was the institutional issues at hand, rather than the personal accusations made by others, including VDM.
