Sensitive materials arrive Ondo ahead Saturday poll

The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced that sensitive materials needed for the smooth conduct of the upcoming governorship elections arrived in the state today ( Monday).

The agency shared this update on Monday via its X.com (formerly Twitter) page.

A picture of the sensitive materials accompanied by a caption stating that the materials arrived in the state capital of Akure safely.

The caption reads, “Sensitive materials for the Ondo State Governorship election, scheduled for Saturday, November 16th, 2024, have arrived in Akure, the State capital, and have been received by officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The materials were conveyed to Akure by the Nigeria Airforce.”

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, has expressed optimism that the Ondo State governorship election will be a success.

Yakubu particularly said the commission had learned lessons in logistics and results management from the Edo State governorship election and previous elections.

Recall that the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ordered the deployment of 6,000 officers to ensure security ahead of the November 16 Ondo State Governorship Election.
