Senate suspends activities to honour passing of Oyo reps member

The Senate suspended its legislative activities on Wednesday, July 10 to honour Hon. Olaide Adewale Akinremi, who represented Ibadan North Federal Constituency of Oyo State.

Akinremi passed away in the early hours of Wednesday after a brief illness, according to a statement by the spokesman of the House of Representatives, Hon. Akin Rotimi.

Details of Akinremi’s death were still unclear at the time of this report. However, a formal notice from the House leadership stated, “Dear colleagues, the House regrets to announce the death of a serving member Hon. Akinremi Jagaban. We will keep you updated as regards to the latest development.”

When the Senate resumed its plenary session, they announced Akinremi’s demise and observed a minute of silence in his honor.

Following this, the Senate suspended all plenary and legislative activities for the day, in line with its standing orders.
