Senate summons service chiefs over Plateau killings

The Senate on Saturday has called upon the service chiefs to appear before it and provide an explanation for the events leading to the tragic deaths of nearly 200 persons in Plateau State on Christmas Eve.

The call came after the house minority caucus raised an alarm three days ago, urging the National Assembly to take decisive action to halt the bloodletting in the state.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, announced that the summoned chiefs, including the Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Air Staff, Director-General DSS, Inspector General of Police, and National Security Adviser, would meet behind closed doors with the Senate to shed light on the situation in Plateau State.

The Senate also observed a minute silence in honour of the victims of the attacks.

The meeting aims to provide clarity on the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
