The Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau, Danladi Umar, is currently being probed by the Senate following an alleged assault on a security guard.
The Punch reports that the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, on Tuesday ordered the senate’s Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions to conduct the probe.
This comes after a petition was presented to the senate by the Senator representing Plateau North, Istifanus Gyang, laid a petition before the Senate on behalf of the victim, Clement Sargwak.
Recall that Umar was publicly criticised for the alleged assault after he allegedly attacked Sargwak alongside his police escort over wrongful parking last month.
It was gathered that Sargwak, a 22-year-old employee of Jul Reliable Guards Services Limited, posted as a security guard to Banex Plaza, in Wuse, Abuja, claimed that the CCT boss slapped him severally and forced him to kneel down in the presence of everybody while undergoing his lawful activities.
Having being allegedly assaulted for only informing the CCT boss of his wrongful parking at the plaza, Sargwak now seeks justice at the senate.
Chairman of the Ethics panel, Senator Ayo Akinyelure, has been given four weeks to investigate the matter and report back to the Senate.
Although the CCT denied the charges in a statement and the Tribunal insisting that Umar was the assault victim, a viral video clip showed Umar slapping and kicking the security guard following an altercation between them over the space where the CCT chairman parked his car on the premises of the plaza.
