The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday held a valedictory session to honour the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who died on July 26, 2024, at the age of 52.

The session began with Senate President Godswill Akpabio highlighting the solemn atmosphere as Ubah’s seat was draped with the Nigerian flag and surrounded by four symbolic candles.

Akpabio described Ubah as a visionary leader, a champion of economic empowerment, and a staunch advocate for community development.

“His death is a huge deficit in the political terrain of our country,” Akpabio said.

The tribute session allowed family members and close relatives of the late senator to be present. Distinguished guests included Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Anambra Governor Chris Ngige, and ex-Senator Uche Ekwunife, along with other dignitaries.

Vice President Shettima praised Ubah’s service to Anambra State, saying, “He lived and served with an unyielding commitment to justice and development.”

The senators and other attendees shared fond memories of Ubah’s impactful contributions to his constituency and Nigeria. His legacy, they noted, remains a source of inspiration, especially for his Anambra South constituents.

The session ended with prayers for his family and the people he represented, ensuring that Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s memory will continue to be celebrated in the nation’s legislative history.
