This year’s Toronto International Film Festival, TIFF, is playing host to the largest number of Nigerian films at the festival.
Each year, organisers of TIFF select a city and filmmakers living and working there are showcased. Previous featured cities include; London, Mumbai and Seoul.
This year, Nigeria’s commercial capital, Lagos has been chosen as part of the ‘City to City’ programme.
As a result, eight Nigerian films will be screened at festival and they are: 93 Days, The Arbitration, 73, Green White Green, The Wedding Party, Okafor’s Law, Taxi Driver: Oko Ashewo, Just Not Married.
Many Nollywood stars and filmmakers are already in Toronto for the festival among which are Banky Wellington, Omoni Oboli, Mo Abudu, Uche Jombo, Kunle Afolayan, Fred Amata and many others.

The Toronto International Film Festival has been celebrating the best of international and Canadian cinema for over 40 years, they introduced the City to City programme eight years ago. The 41st Toronto International Film Festival runs September 8 to 18, 2016.
