Officials of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), on Monday, made voluntary contributions to support internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the North Eastern part of Nigeria.
This was made known in a post shared on the Facebook page of the Nigerian Air Force.
The items which included cash donation of about N7million were presented by the Director of Medical Services, Air Vice Marshal Saleh Shinkafi, to the Nigerian Air Force Officers’ Wives Association (NAFOWA) for onward delivery to the victims of Boko Haram insurgency.
The NAFOWA National President, Hajiya Hafsat Abubakar, who took delivery of the items expressed deep appreciations to officers and men of the NAF for their genuine concern towards the IDPs and for taking concrete step to put smiles on their faces.
Mrs Abubakar said the presentation marks the climax of a noble idea that was mooted some months ago by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Mshl Sadique Abubakar, during durbar with commanders.
She said the CAS encouraged NAF personnel to voluntarily contribute towards supporting the efforts of the Federal Government to alleviate the plights of the IDPs.
She promised that the body would be fair and transparent in handling the donations, and that the items would immediately be transported to Maiduguri to enable them start distribution in Bama IDP camp over the coming weekend.
