If the former president of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo had not distanced himself from all social media activities, there may have been serious trouble after two tweets about former president Goodluck Jonathan from an account claiming to be Obasanjo.

The twitter account which carries the pictures of the former president and has only tweeted 15 times before Wednesday August 10, 2016 was opened in January 2016.

“If Jonathan and his minions had been allowed another term in office, Nigeria would have been looted out of the world map by now,” the account tweeted.

“There’s no way to stop blaming Jonathan Administration for Nigeria’s present predicaments. Even Jonathan is blaming Jonathan at the moment.”

Although whoever is behind the account did a good job trying to imitate the former president’s sense of humor, it is obvious that the account is not associated with the 79-year-old former president.

In February 2015, Obasanjo had denied any links with social media accounts bearing his name both on Facebook and on Twitter. He had warned people using his identity on social media to desist from the act.

I don’t have any account on either Facebook or Twitter,” Obasanjo had told journalist at his Hiltop mansion in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.

“Let me say that nemesis will catch up with anyone doing this. It is illegal and criminal. If I have to pass any message to the good people of Nigeria, I know how to go about it with no controversy.”
