English Premier League star, Jermain Defoe landed himself in trouble at the weekend after a 26-year-old man accused him of having an affair with his wife.
According to reports, a dock worker Tony Calvert, from South Shields, is planning to name the Sunderland striker in divorce papers, claiming Defoe was the cause of their divorce.
The Newcastle United fan alleged that his wife, Rachel Segalofsky, 24, committed adultery with the footballer.
Mr Calvert said he plans to divorce Ms Segalofsky on the grounds of adultery and named Defoe in divorce proceedings.
It was gathered that Ms Segalofsky met 33-year-old Defoe on a night out in Newcastle.
The footballer has been linked to a string of high-profile stars in recent years including singer Alexandra Burke and Danielle Lloyd.
Also, Defoe had earlier been accused of cheating on the X Factor winner with Geordie model Laura Brown.
The Sunderland striker has also been linked with models Imogen Thomas and Chantelle Houghton in the past.
He also revealed he was to be a father in 2012 after his ex-girlfriend Anne-Marie Moore gave birth to a son called Joshua-James. However, a paternity test later revealed he was not the father.
