The Joint Security Force in Anambra State has intensified efforts to track down gunmen responsible for recent attacks on two police stations in the state.

Police spokesman Tochuckwu Ikenga confirmed that the manhunt has been extended to Obofia Forest, Aguluezuchukwu, and Ogboji areas.

“On 2nd April, 2024, the Police-led Forward Operating Base conducted a highly mobile operation, striking insurgents’ camps in the aforementioned areas,” Ikenga stated.

He revealed that insurgents engaged in a fierce firefight with security forces and were subsequently routed from their hideouts, which were then destroyed.

During the operation, security forces recovered high-caliber ammunition, cartridges, a locally fabricated rocket launcher, police uniforms, and a Ford Pick-Up Truck without number plates.

Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, emphasized the determination to eradicate insurgents from Anambra State, pledging to sustain the operation until the state is completely safe.

Adeoye urged troops and personnel involved in the operation to maintain momentum until the state is fully secured from cowardly guerrilla attacks by insurgents.
